Keep Your DOT Information Current
Your USDOT record is how FMCSA, brokers, shippers, and insurance companies identify your trucking business. When something changes — your address, phone number, business details, number of trucks or drivers, or the type of freight you haul — your registration information should reflect it.
Motor carriers are also required to update their USDOT registration information every two years through the biennial update (MCS-150), even if nothing has changed. Keeping your record accurate helps avoid confusion with brokers and customers and keeps your information consistent across your business.
FMCSA is also moving registration to its new Motus system. If you are not sure where your record stands, our FMCSA Motus registration guide explains the basics — and our team can help you figure out the next step.

DOT Compliance & Updates FAQ
FMCSA requires motor carriers to update their registration information every two years through the biennial update (MCS-150), and whenever important business information changes. Your biennial due date is based on your USDOT number. We can help you check when yours is due.
Have your USDOT number, your company’s legal name, and the details of what changed (for example, a new address, phone number, or number of trucks). Because FMCSA’s Motus system uses Login.gov identity verification, the company’s authorized person may need to be available for parts of the process.
Yes. Registrations and updates can also be completed directly through FMCSA. Many trucking companies prefer to have our team file the update for them, so they can stay focused on running their business.
No. Danaco Group Insurance is an independent private company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of FMCSA or the U.S. Department of Transportation.
